The Ascended Masters
"People will freely respond only to those individuals who are chosen
as leaders, because they are proven and trusted as servants."
Who are they?
The Ascended Masters are members of the Spiritual Hierarchy Who belong to the 5th kingdom of nature, just as the average person belongs to the 4th kingdom. They include those of our Humanity who have mastered the physical, emotional, mental and soul levels of consciousness and have become one with God. They oversee the conscious evolution of our planet and assist those humans who are endeavouring to grow and serve the divine Plan, which is the blueprint for the unfoldment of higher awareness on our planet.
Sanat Kumara, the personality expression of the Planetary Logos sits as the head of Shamballa. Also known as the "Lord of the World" it is this Great One who guides both Hierarchy and Humanity. The office of the Head of the Hierarchy itself is held by Maitreya the Christ, who is also known as the World Teacher. These great Souls hold key roles in unfolding the divine Plan on Earth and serving with them are a whole Hierarchy of Souls who express upon one of the seven rays which condition our planet and all of existence. (See Seven rays). Hence a member of Hierarchy may serve upon the 1st ray of will and power, or the second ray of love- wisdom or the 3rd ray of active intelligence and so on.
In the past 125 years a group of the Masters have taken on a special role in helping to facilitate Humanity's spiritual evolution. This group has supported the development of several spiritual initiatives in the West, including the Theosophical Society, Arcane School and Builders of the Adytum. These Masters from different Ray lines are involved in joint work to help Humanity gain a greater awareness of our role on the planet. They include the Masters Morya, Koot Hoomi, Djwal Khul, Rakoczy and Serapis.
There have also been many incarnate Masters who manifest great qualities of love and creative endeavour but what identifies the Ascended Masters is that they have taken the 5th Initiation, the Ascension and have thus transcended the need for human form. They have become Beings of Light and one can read stories from all of the spiritual traditions of the world about the process of building a divine "body of light" through which to serve Life. In this ascended state the Masters serve from the subtle worlds but are still able to communicate with all levels of consciousness below Them. However, our capacity to communicate with Them depends on our readiness and the condition of our aura. Premature attempts to communicate may result in contact with some impostor on the astral plane (of illusion). Hence the need for spiritual discernment.
Approaching Them
The Hierarchy are really one composite body, a communion of souls because they have transcended the separative mind and exist in a state of oneness with life. They serve the divine Plan and their activities are dedicated to helping guide and awaken their younger brothers and sisters amongst humanity. In their role as servants of the Divine they are able to point you to the way ahead in your own evolution and this takes place as you progress in your service efforts.
As you develop patience, perserverance and detachment in serving others and practise daily meditation and self-study a refinement of your energy field takes place, a tempering by fire if you like and this fire gradually purifies your aura. The increasing radiance of your aura then attracts Those with whom you are linked by karma and pledge and you are gradually drawn towards the outer court of a Master's ashram. As you progress over time you may have an interview with the Master or come into contact with a senior disciple of the Master. Sincerity and perseverance are often tested and the experiences you have help to affirm your faith and encourage your contribution to the Plan. Members of the Brotherhood are very human and happy to assist those whose motives are genuine and sincere though some with a more global focus are less involved in training individual disciples.
Glimpses
The following anecdotes illustrate some contacts with members of the Spiritual Hierarchy. Communications with them have normally taken the form of visual or telepathic contacts in meditation. However, impressions of a much more subtle nature also occur, when I have been writing or reading. These impressions are almost seamless to the workings of my own intellect, except that the blissful energy and depth of insight gained indicate that some one or some idea has gently impressed itself upon my mind. Sometimes you only discover the purpose of this contact after following through on the recommendations that have been made. The insight and beauty that flows from such contacts is undeniable. These examples demonstrate some of the different ways in which we can have contact with these Souls.
On one retreat I attended, the Master Koot Hoomi appeared to me in the early dawn as Balthazar, one of the 3 Magian priests. He was joined by Melchizedek, who appeared as a portly Hebrew priest, dressed in a simple Jewish priest's girdle and gown. Balthazar, probably in order to symbolise the purpose of the grail, poured the shimmering contents of a beautiful cup into his mouth and this living stream of water flowed endlessly, demonstrating the need to share the "Waters of Life" with others.
He then announced to me that the portal of initiation awaited and an image of the portal was shown to me which you can see amongst the images on this website. I demurred at this idea and straight away the statement was repeated more emphatically, "The Portal of Initiation". It was clear They didn't want me to have any doubt about what I was hearing.
The Master R who has been patiently waiting for me to commence some service activity for the Hierarchy, once interviewed me in his study in the manner described in the article "The Approach of the Teacher" on the Articles page. Previous to this he had shown me how my lower mind/will was protesting at having to surrender itself to its destiny. He appeared to a clairvoyant during a reading I was given and tied a female crystal around my waist to try and calm down my solar plexus centre, which was in conflict. The conflict was due to the fear my lower will was manifesting as I became more involved in things unseen.
My first contact with the Master DK occurred at the end of a retreat in 1998 during a group meditation. He simply walked up from the background of my inner vision and gazed at me in a very detached fashion. He had the appearance of an elderly Tibetan or Mongolian and had very high cheekbones and a closely shaven beard. After gazing at me for a few moments, he then turned around without a word and walked away. After the meditation was over I turned to my mentor who was sitting next to me during the meditation and asked him, "Who do we know who wears a Fez?" He looked at me a little bemused and replied, "the Master DK". I couldn't have been more surprised at this and that surprise illustrates how inner contacts are often only confirmed by others after the experience happens. Following this contact my energy field felt like it was vibrating at an extremely fast rate and took some time to return to "normal".
When I was collecting my thoughts and material to start writing the book "Spiritual Psychology and the Ageless Wisdom", I was told that my aunt had some esoteric books she wanted to give away and she had asked if I might want them. Given we were rarely in touch and that she knew nothing of the book I was writing, I felt the timing was interesting, especially when the books turned out to be a full set of Helena Blavatsky's "The Secret Doctrine" and 2 copies of Alice Bailey's "A Treatise on Cosmic Fire". Having looked at the Doctrine, I could see it was similar to my perspective, which had been shaped by both yogic and roscirucian philosophies. The material revealed in "Cosmic Fire", especially the details on the Egoic Lotus will continue to be very relevant to my work.
Once while meditating I felt the familiar flow of energy into my crown centre and a wave of energy opening up my brow centre. Slowly, the image of a circle was drawn in iridescent red ink and the communicator said in a very loving manner, "This is my circle". He then drew a smaller one that intersected part of his, but also had a part outside of it. He then said, "This is your circle, ..... you need to expand it." And so, in this simple and subtle way, I was encouraged to start to build more relationships with my fellow travellers on the Path. And this is what the website and Foundation is all about. This Teacher's encouragement along with the the others has gradually led me to commence some service activities.
